If we get taxed on every penny we make in investment income every year, why are we only entitled to $ 3000 loss as a deduction each year? Is it just purely to benefit the govt? Are they hoping that, if we lose a lot, we cannot possibly ever get all the deductions that we are entitled to? Is it the same logic for making a profit on selling real estate…we are taxed when we profit more than $ 250K, but when we sell for less, we can’t deduct it as a loss?

You can carry forward stock losses indefinitely. When the dot.com bubble burst there were many people with lots of losses. Some of them are still recovering those losses today. Don’t forget, you can write your winners against your losers. If you make $ 10000 on the sale of a stock and you lose $ 15000 on another stock, you would subtract your losses from your gains (10,000-15,000=(5,000). From the $ 5000 you would be able to deduct $ 3000 this year and then carry forward the $ 2000 until next year.

If you have lots of time before retirement which means the magic of compound interest will just keep building and building. If you keep investing every year, in 10 or 15 years you will be surprised at how it mounts up. And that’s the primary reason to keep investing in small cap growth stocks – they will flog inflation to death. Here’s the formula…

You may need a broker so go to Fidelity, Schwab, e-Trade or Scottrade who have low commission rates.
Do your own due diligence. Your own ideas are the best. Do not depend on someone else to select investments for you. Learn about investing so you don’t have to ask what stocks to invest in.
Be self reliant.
Find stocks that have steadily rising net profits (earnings), low debt, and good P/Es, lots of cash, companies buying back their stock.
You need fast growing good stocks with good earnings and in good sectors. You need to learn more about the stock market before you even think about investing in it.
The best software is TC2000, for the cost of a soda per day you will be amazed at the amount of information and indicators available. I suggest taking one of their free all day seminars.

Stay away from “professional brokers” and tips coming to you via e-mail or friends and acquaintances. And tips at Yahoo! Answers. And e-mail tips. If it’s too good to be true, it is.
Risk avoidance is the name of the game.
Penny stocks are highly speculative. I would avoid these like the plague. For example, Best Buy started at less than $ 5. So there are some good companies, but it takes a lot of digging to find the good ones. You are looking for companies with good earnings, little debt, low capitalization, and good P/Es. For stocks under $ 5, very few will meet these requirements.

I would suggest real estate. It seems to have the most stable growth of any other investment. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to buy a house or two and rent them out. They would be paid for in 30 to 40 years and they would probably be worth double by then. Think of it, where else are you going to get that kind of return on investment?

It is best to switch to a “fee for service” financial planner. While it may cost you more out of pocket, a fee for service broker is much less likely to steer you towards high commission investments over other investments which may be better suited for you.

Usually what that means for companies that are on regular exchanges is that they failed to file all the paperwork with SEC.
ITEK is also late so it filed NT K10 which is getting an extension to file the paperwork. To let the traders know that the company is late with paperwork letter E was added to the end of the tick.

I am going to be 18 in 1 month, and I want to become an investor as my living and my way to try and become a multimillionaire if I can. I’ve thought of multiple options as my choice of investments such as;
1.Penny stocks; I am considering these as they can move as much as several hundred percent in as little as 1 day, and they are highly speculative but can be very, very risky and a lot of them are scams and even the ones that aren’t end up dead.
2.Currency CFDs (Contracts for Differences); I want to have a serious go at these after what I’ve learned about them, and have worked out that they can have the same or better returns than stocks.
3.Share CFDs (Contracts for Differences); I have thought about these but I think that currencies can have the same or better returns than stocks, but I still would like to consider them.
4.Stock options, i.e Puts & Calls; I thought about them but have realised that these are really not for me as most options trades expire worthless and OTM (Out of the Money).
Which of these following options would you most highly recommend to me as my option to attempt to get rich off of investments? Good, reasonable answers would be very much appreciated and would earn the highest best answer. Thank you.

I have been leaning toward buying penny stock to start myself off. I am 20 years old and have been thinking about investing in awhile. My original plan was to just toss my money into a CD account with a high interest. I researched into it and found that you have a set amount of money you invest (say $ 5,000 at 2% interest for 5 years) Every month the interest compounds and you get to take the money out (must always be $ 5,000 in the account) so every month you would be able to take out $ 100, or leave it in and let it grow. However 2% is very low, when I first thought of doing it I was still able to find 8% and higher. What are some good things to invest money in? My plan is to be able to make enough from the investment alone to support myself, but continue working and saving money!
In other words how can I manage to obtain $ 500 per month or more through investment alone? How much starting money would I need? Or how much would I need to save every month to obtain this goal in 1, 5, or 10 years?

There is no such thing as a high-interest CD. Penny stocks are guaranteed to wipe you out. Locate a good mutual fund company and select a no-load fund then ease your money into to over a period of months to avoid buying at a peak. With the government printing money like mad we could be in for a (further) falling dollar so I like foreign stock funds. Try T. Rowe Price or American Century mutual funds.
